Caden is Seven!

Caden turned seven on Sunday.  I cannot believe how big he is getting.  He loves playing basketball and baseball.  He is doing great in school.  He loves math and reading.  He's reading at a third grade level, and he just loves reading The Boxcar Children series, historical books, biographies, and books about nature.  He is a joy to have as a son, and he's a wonderful older brother.  Caden is 49.25 inches tall (83%) and 54.8 pounds (70%).

A "7" pancake for his birthday breakfast.

Here are a few pictures I took of him with his birthday shirt on.

And a few pictures from years past...

Easter 2017

We dyed Easter eggs for the first time.  Annabelle picked out a "Trolls" dying kit.

We switched to a different campus of our church a few months ago.  Their Easter service was in a park across the street from the church building.  They had petting zoos and several other fun things for kids to do before and after the service.

Caden preferred to experience the animals from the outside.

One of Caden's friends from school invited the 1st grade boys to an Easter egg hunt on Good Friday.  Here's a pic of the boys before they ate cake.

I took  the kids to the Arboretum a few weeks ago to get a few pictures in their Easter outfits.  Here are a few of the best pictures.

Grandparents Day and Jolly Cousins Visit

Kevin, Kelly, Wyatt, and Luke were in town to visit the first week of April.  The kids always have fun playing with their cousins.  Then Nana and Papa were in town for Grandparents Day.

Luke turned 5 while they were here.  He wanted a piñata.  Annabelle having her turn at the piñata.

And Caden's turn.

The first grade classes recited a poem and sang two songs.  One of the songs was a pirate song.  Here's a pic with their pirate eye patches on.  Caden is 4th from the left on the 3rd row.

Mimi, Tia, and Daddy all left before I had a chance to take pictures.  Here's a pic with Mommy.

Baseball and March Fun

It was an exciting month.  Caden lost his first tooth on the play ground after school on March 21st.  Caden is playing baseball for the first time.  He just loves it!  He has been doing great; especially considering he's the only one on his team who hasn't played before.

Up to bat.

They have had the opportunity to play pretty much ever position.  Caden played catcher once.

Playing pitcher, which is the equivalent of short stop.

A pic of Caden right after his tooth came out.

One Friday in March, the kids didn't have school because of parent teacher conferences.  Caden had a stellar review; he is doing great in school.  Caden in a pilot's seat at the Flight Museum.  Our original plan of going to the zoo was derailed by rain.

After the rain cleared, the boys still really wanted to go to the zoo, so we headed there, also.

Caden played in a 3 on 3 basketball tournament at our neighborhood junior high with three buddies from school.  They had an unlucky draw, and they ended up in a pool with the two teams that made it to the championship game.  Only two teams from each pool made it to the bracket play, so they did not get to play beyond their three pool games, but they had fun!  An action pic...Caden was number 10.

The last weekend of March, I headed down to Lakeway, right outside of Austin, with my tennis team for some team bonding and tennis playing.  A team pic, back row: Amy Moore, Stephani Walne, Jenny Everett, Deb Janowski, Wendy Thomas; front row: Tracey Berta, Carrie Miller, Hilary Baker, Laura, and Sheradin Pettit.  It was fun, but unfortunately my weekend there was cut short because of an injury.

This was my second season of tennis, and my first on this new team.  It was super fun, despite the fact that I missed my last 2 matches because of my foot injury; I ended the season 4-0.  And my team finished first in our flight, which means we will move up to a harder division in the Fall.
