Maine Vacation - Part Two

The vacation was wonderful, and we loved Acadia.  But our one complaint was parking.  It was pretty crowded in the park, and parking was hard to come by.  One day we wanted to hike around Jordan Pond, and we couldn't find a parking spot.  So the kids and I hopped out of the car and took a loop around the pond without Brian.  After he parked, we met up at the Jordan Pond House for popovers and lunch, and then we hiked the loop for a second time.  Annabelle with a toad in the water.

We headed to Bass Harbor Head Light House one afternoon.  A family selfie on the rocks with the lighthouse in the background.

The kids loved climbing on the rocks.

A little better view of the lighthouse.

The lighthouse from the entrance side.  It was windy by the water!

We drove up Cadillac Mountain one day.  A stop along the way with Eagle Lake behind us.

Views from the top of Cadillac Mountain.

Bar Harbor is off in the distance.

A pic of the sand bar that we would later walk across.

Maine Vacation - Part One

We headed up to Maine the first week of August.  The house we stayed in is owned by the headmaster at school, and we purchased the stay in the 2020 auction, but Covid delayed our trip by a year.  First stop after traveling was a restaurant with lobster!  The kids were grossed out, but I thought it was delicious!

The kids thought the bib was funny.

The next day we headed to Acadia to do the Ocean Path trail.

After spending some time in Acadia, we headed back to the house.  It sits right on water, and Caden and I went for a walk.  He found a great spot to skip rocks.

We had a great view of beautiful sunsets from the deck of the house.  The pictures do not do it justice.

July Activities

After a year of renting our Broken Bow house, we sold it and closed on it in July.  Renting it for a year worked out great, but it's nice to be back to owning just one house.  Ellie, from Annabelle's SVAA team, asked her to play in a tournament with her summer team.

Unbeknownst to the team, they registered for a top level tournament with teams from all over, and their team played some really huge girls.

Annabelle is enjoying summer with her friends.  Fun with Audrey, Ann Holland, and Laura.

We decided earlier this year to get on a waitlist for a puppy.  A litter of Cavapoos was born July 9th, and we should get one of these.

Nana came over for her birthday.

4th of July

Annabelle wanted to bake a dessert for the 4th.

We headed up to the club for their 4th festivities.  A pic with some of our preschool playgroup friends: Caden, Annabelle, Cate and Caroline Purser, and Luna and Belle Hartgrove.

Some of Laura's tennis friends; Evi and Heather.

Waiting for the fireworks to start.

Annabelle collected quite a few glow sticks.

Laura had another tennis weekend playing in the Summer City Championships.  The team came up a little short losing in the finals.

Another swim meet for the kids.  Annabelle with a few friends.

Very few meets give away any ribbons or medals, but the kids swam in a medal madness meet in Rockwall, and Annabelle came home with some hardware.  The meet was set up 10U and 11+, so poor Caden was swimming against some big kids.

Summer Day Camps

Caden did a Kidpreneur camp at Covenant one week, so Annabelle and I did a sewing camp at home.  She's been asking to learn how to sew for quite some time.  We decided to make an apron.  Annabelle ready to go.

Measuring and cutting.

Annabelle threading the machine.

Lining up the pockets.

We had plans to embroider an "A" on it, but we didn't end up doing that.

She was copying the Gingerbread dance from the Nutcracker, since that dance wears an apron for their costume.

Here's a picture of Caden playing a game at his camp.

The next week Annabelle went to an American Girl Doll camp.

Caden had another basketball tournament this past weekend.  His team ended up winning!

Annabelle and two of her swim buddies at the meet.
