More Swimming and Other June Activities

The second swim meet of the season was at JCC.  Annabelle decided not to compete, but Caden swam in five events, and he won first in all five races (8U freestyle relay, 8U 25 freestyle, 8U 25 breast stroke, 8U 25 butterfly, and 8U medley relay.

Caden's finish during his individual 25yd freestyle.  He swam under 19 seconds, which is his best time ever.  You can see he won by more than a body length.

Annabelle lost another tooth.

Annabelle's friend Isla had a birthday party at a local pool.  A pic of Annabelle with her friends Belle Hartgrove and Isla Baker.

Nana and Papa came to watch the kids' third meet.  Annabelle chose again not to swim.  Caden swam five races (freestyle and medley relay, 25yd freestyle, 100yd individual medley, and the 25yd butterfly), and he again won first place five times.  We were so proud that he chose to challenge himself by swimming the 100yd individual medley.  All the other 8 year olds only swim 4 races, so when he chose to add the IM as his fifth race, he swam twice as many lengths of the pool as any of his peers.

We finally finished our project of cleaning up the West side of the house.  It looks great!

One of Annabelle's friends invited the Tue/Thur Explorer girls over to have a lemonade stand.  The girls had so much fun, and they raised $115 to donate to the Covenant Auction (Tuition Assistance Fund).

Annabelle's teacher Mrs Scherer even showed up!

Our last meet of the season was at DAC.  A pic of the kids waiting for their turn to warm up.

Annabelle swam in the meet, and she did great.  She was worried she would false start, so she wanted me right there next to her at the start to tell her when to go.  The last race of the first meet, she dove in one race too early.  I've seen multiple kids do it; it's confusing for the 6U girls because the big kids that swim before them start from the other side of the pool because they are swimming 50, instead of 25.  Annabelle chose to just swim individual races and not any relays.  She swam the individual 25yd freestyle and placed 4th, she swam the 25yd breast stroke and placed 3rd, and she swam the 25yd fly and placed 2nd.  Overall, she did great and improved her times significantly over the first meet.  Here's a pic of Annabelle ready to take her mark.

Caden swam five races again in this meet.  He placed first in the freestyle relay, first in the 25yd freestyle, first in the 100 individual medley, third in the 25yd breast stroke, and first in the medley relay.  His third place race at this meet was the only race all season that he didn't win.  Here's the video of Caden's 25yd freestyle race.

Here's the video of his individual medley race.  The 8U boys and 8U girls were in the pool at the same time.  Caden and the girl from DAC beat their opponents by a full length of the pool.  Caden didn't beat the girl by much, but she is a really good swimmer who swims on a year round swim team.

Annabelle earned herself a mermaid for overcoming her fears of swimming in the meet.

Wyatt and Luke were in town the last week of June, so they were there for the last meet.  They came over to swim one day.

Luke, Wyatt, Caden, and Annabelle lined up at Mimi and Tia's house.

Annabelle and Violet have matching pj's, but we just discovered that Mommy matches, too.
