Thanksgiving in Maui

We headed to the beach for some relaxation, snorkling, and boogie boarding.

Laura set up the camera one night to take pictures for our Christmas card.

Several nights sea turtles got caught up in the rocks by our condo.

We explored the North side of West Maui one day.  The drive along the coast is beautiful.

The Nakalele Blowhole was one of the coolest things we saw while we were there.  It was very windy, which I would guess was making it even more impressive.

The next day we headed to a different beach.  Annabelle had so much fun boogie boarding for hours.

Our last day there, we saw an amazing rainbow.  Pictures don't do it justice.

We ended our trip with a stop at Mamma's Fish House.  It's the highest rated restaurant on Maui, and the hardest to get into.  I made reservations for it in August.

An chocolate oyster dessert.

There was a great area for taking pictures right outside the restaurant.

Thanksgiving in Maui: Honolulu

We hopped over to Honolulu for the day to go to Pearl Harbor and the Maui Invitational Basketball Tournament.

A few pictures on the USS Arizona Memorial.

Then over to the basketball arena.  The first game in our session was Purdue vs. Tennessee.  Then we watched KU play Marquette.

Even though KU lost that game, Caden said it was his favorite part of the trip.

Thanksgiving in Maui: Road to Hana

We decided last Spring to go to Maui over Thanksgiving to watch KU in the Maui Invitational basketball tournament.  Unfortunately, the Maui wild fires last summer moved the tournament to Honolulu, but we decided to still go to Maui.  Caden and Laura walked down the beach from our condo when we arrived.

We walked right out our condo backdoor to this!

Our first day there, we decided to do the road to Hana.  We opted to circle the island completely by heading to Hana via the South side of the island. It's amazing the different topography in different parts of the island.

First stop was the Pipiwai trail to the 'Ohe'o Gulch.

Then over to Wailua Falls.

Laura and Annabelle exploring Hamoa Beach.

When we arrived in Hana, Brian had to take a work call, so Laura and the kids hiked to the Kaihalulu Red Sand beach.

Next stop was Wai'anapanapa State Park and the Black Sand Beach.

The drive back to the condo was pretty treacherous; Brian got a little car sick, but we made it.
