Mostly Bug Free Backyard!!!

Last month we got a mosquito misting system installed in our backyard.  It has been awesome!  I love being able to play freely in the backyard without dousing myself and the kids with bug spray.  Those pesky suckers especially like me and Annabelle, so it's made a world of difference in how much I enjoy playing outside with the kids.

Caden loves watching people work, and he had so much fun watching the men up on the ladders installing the misting system.  He put some tools in his back pockets pretending to be one of the misting system worker men.  I love watching his sweet pretend play!

 

I took the kids to a park a few weeks ago to try to take their picture.  Annabelle wanted nothing to do with it.  We have booked a professional photographer to take our picture on the beach when we are in San Diego next month, so I'm really hoping she's more cooperative with a stranger.

Summer Fun Days at Fair Park

Fair Park is open all summer for the first time this year.  They are having something called Summer Fun Days.  We went down there last week with a group of friends and had a really good time.  I'm glad they're using the park for something outside the 3 weeks in the Fall that the State Fair is there.

The first "ride" we did was the Texas Tower.  Annabelle enjoyed her view.

Caden and his friends rode a handful of rides.  Annabelle even got to ride one hot air balloon ride that spun around and went up and down.  Caden loved that one, but Annabelle was a little scared.  We ate lunch in the green house.  It had train tracks set up throughout it that the boys just loved.  One train was led by Thomas and one by Percy; it was very exciting!

 

We swim pretty much every day.  Here are the kids giving each other a hug and enjoying a snack after their swim. 

 

Poor Annabelle got a shiner on Friday.  She was trying to climb over her Pottery Barn Kids chair like Caden was doing, and she fell over and hit her head on the wall.

4th of July

We had a good 4th.  We went to a friend's house and to our neighborhood parade.

Caden's 3yr appointment

Caden finally had his 3 year check up at the doctor this past week.  They measured him at 38.5" (75%); although, he was totally slouching, so I think he's a little taller than that.  And he clocked in at 36.6 lbs (92%). 

 

Keeping them entertained in the little room while we're waiting for the dr is quite the challenge.  Annabelle did have fun checking herself out in the mirror.

 

The weather has been really nice lately.  Highs in the 80's.  We're trying to enjoy being outside before it's in the 100's.  They had fun at the park this week.

Father's Day 2013

Brian took Caden to his first baseball game on Father's Day.  They went up to Frisco for a Rough Riders game with Mimi.

 

Caden had no interest in smiling.

We've been enjoying swimming.  Caden doesn't have any interest in putting his face in the water, but he loves "swimming" around the pool with his puddle jumper floatie on.  Annabelle on the other hand has no fear at all.  It's a little scary because she's just jump right in.  I have to hold her arm every second, unless she's in the baby float.

 



Annabelle's 15 months

A little late posting this, since she's actually inching up on 16mo.  Annabelle's stat's at her 15 month appointment were 25.6 lbs (85%), 31.5" (75%), and 48.2 cm head circumference (95%).

Girls Weekend

I got together with my two best friends from high school over the Memorial Day weekend.  Rebekah flew in from San Francisco, and Melissa drove over from where she lives a little South of Fort Worth.  We spent the night at a nice hotel near downtown Sat night, and we had so much fun!  And Brian enjoyed his Daddy duty weekend.

We got massages and mani/Pedi's at the spa.
