Zoo & haircut

We had a busy week last week.  I wanted to do as many fun things as we could, since we'll basically be housebound for a few weeks after baby girl arrives.  We had our last art class on Tuesday.  Caden painted a giraffe, which is perfect, since he loves talking about giraffes and their long necks.  Thursday after his nap, we went to the zoo.  Unfortunately, I didn't realize that the zoo closes early in Jan & Feb, so we only had about 45 minutes to walk around.  He definitely enjoyed it, though.

I couldn't believe how close this lioness was to the glass.  I don't think I've ever seen a lion this close.  I got this shot of Caden a split second before sheer terror came over his face and he began crying.  Poor guy doesn't understand that she can't come through the glass.

Of course, we had to see the giraffes.

We also saw a gorilla.  It was nice to see one this trip because they were off hiding somewhere when we went to the zoo in December with Wyatt.  This guy was walking right toward us as we walked up, but he turned around to sit down before I could get my camera out.

We saw a baby chimp.

On Friday I took Caden to get his first professional haircut.  I've cut his hair several times, but I just haven't had the energy to cut it lately, so it had gotten pretty long.  He was a little unsure, but overall he did great!

Unless she decides to come on her own, we're set to check into the hospital late Tuesday morning.  My op time is 1:30pm, so she should arrive around 2pm.  We're all set up and ready for her.  Brian set up the pack 'n play in our room today, reassembled the swing and bouncer, put her carseat in the car, and put together our new double stroller.  Caden repeatedly asked for rides today.  Here he is getting a ride on the patio.

One week or less...

No later than one week from today we'll get to meet our sweet baby girl!  I'm so excited, and I'm detinitely ready to not be pregnant anymore :).

We've had some gorgeous days over the past week, so I finally took Caden to the Arboretum to do one last "photo shoot" before baby girl arrives.  Here are a few shots of him from last week in his Valentine's shirt...

I'm getting close to being done with all the projects for baby girls room.  My project Sunday afternoon was to make a lampshade for her room.  My inspiration was this rose lampshade from Pottery Barn Kids.

So I took a green lamp shade that I used in Caden's nursery...

Painted it pink, and then glued hydrangeas to it...

And here it is in her room...sorry for the horribly dark lighting.  I took this pic with my phone.

Baby Girl's Room

Well, her room is pretty much done.  I haven't hung anything on the walls yet, and I have a lamp shade project that I'm still working on.  Here are a few pictures of the room...

The view from the doorway.  You can see a few of my sewing projects:  the basket liner (her name is embroidered on the front of it), the bumper (which has her first initial appliqued on it...the bear is hiding it :) ), the quilt on the glider, and the window valance.

Another sewing project was the hamper.

The little dresser with the mirrors was in my room growing up.

Caden's new big boy room

We've been so busy since Christmas trying to get things done before baby girl arrives.  I've been sewing so many things for the nursery, which is really close to being done.  I've been embroidering quite a few things and getting Caden's new room ready.

One of Brian's big projects was changing all the door knobs in the house.  He finished that job last weekend...after Caden showed him exactly what he needed to do :).

Here's a picture of Caden's new room (the old playroom).

And the other side...one of my completed sewing project for his room, the hamper.

And Caden being silly trying on a pair of my boots on Saturday.

Sprinkle

The Moms from our playgroup were so kind and thoughtful to throw me a Sprinkle today.  The weather today was beautiful, and the kiddo's had so much fun playing outside.  Here are a few pictures of the kiddo's playing outside today.

Caden always has fun pushing a stroller.

There's always a line for the slide.

Well, we're now inside 4 weeks until baby girl arrives.  I've been busy working on my sewing projects for Caden's "big boy" room and the baby's room.  There are still a few things that need to be done in both their rooms, but I'll post pictures soon.

I also worked on several embroidery projects over the weekend.  Here are the kiddo's Valentine's day and Easter shirts.  Both Easter shirts have the front of a bunny and their name on the front of the shirt and the back of the bunny on the back of their shirt.

I haven't taken much video footage the past few months.  Primarily because Caden usually stops what he's doing when I pull out the camera and immediately heads for it and wants to play with it.  But when I loaded the videos last week from the last few months, I saw this video from 2 months ago.  He had squirted out some of his shampoo before he got in the bath; instead of wasting it, I put it in his hair and spiked it up.  He thought it was hilarious!
