Caden's 1st Grade Living History Day

Caden had his first Living History Day at school the day before Spring Break.  The theme was Ancient Egypt.

Mommy and Caden ready for the celebration.

A pic of a few boys in Caden's class before they headed to the gym for the festivities.
Back: Maverick Penley, Left to Right: Levi Webb, Andrew Collins, Caden, and Everett Horan.

The kids watching the opening act.

The kids were split into groups of eight to go from station to station to learn about what it was like to live in ancient Egypt.  Left to right: Caden, Annie Pattison, Kate Wilson, Harrison Lang, Lily Rodriguez, Abby Breeding, Cade Crane, and Drew Dzina.

First station: Food Tasting.

Second station was a craft station to decorate an ornate collar.  I didn't get a picture of that.  Then they headed to the chariot races.  This was by far Caden's favorite part of the day.  Caden and Drew Dzina ready to pull Harrison Lang and Cade Crane.

And they're off.

Caden had his turn being a passenger, too.

Then they got to play "Papyrus Ball".  It was basically field hockey using broom sticks.  Caden had fun here, too.

Then they learned Egyptian dancing.

Caden had a turn stomping grapes.  His face as he stepped in.

And lastly, they built pyramids.  Each child took a turn being buried in the pyramid.

After school that day, we headed to White Rock Coffee by our house.  They display art from different schools in the area every month.  Covenant was allowed to display 40 works of art, and the art teacher chose one of Caden's to be included.  One of the regulars at WRC loved it so much that she asked to buy it.  We opted to keep it.  Here's a pic of Caden next to his art work.

An ice cream treat to celebrate the start of Spring Break.
